Google has suffered from a massive bug that led to missing timelines in Maps. Some users reported that they have been unable to see the time for several years on the Map. Google has confirmed that it has not fixed the issue and users can restore the timeline that was missing from their account.
Google fixes missing Maps timelineGoogle has confirmed to 9to5Google that Google Maps had this “No visits for this day” issue and has also rolled out a fix that now lets users restore the data that went missing from users’ accounts.
The company has confirmed that the Maps “briefly experienced a technical issue that caused the deletion of Timeline data for some people.” The issue started surfacing earlier this month. However, only some users were affected by this issue.
If you are one of those who got affected by this issue, Google has fixed the issue where the timeline feature wasn’t getting enabled by default leading to missing visit records.
According to the report, users who have enabled the “encrypted Timeline backups can now restore their data.
“We briefly experienced a technical issue that caused the deletion of Timeline data for some people. Nearly everyone with encrypted Timeline backups will be able to restore their data; unfortunately, those who did not have backups enabled will not be able to recover lost data, saus a Google spokesperson
How to restore missing timeline in MapsOpen Google Maps.
Tap on your profile picture and select “Your Timeline.”
Tap the cloud icon in the top-right corner.
Choose a device or backup from the list.
Tap the three-dot menu next to the backup and select “Import.”
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
