A millennial manager who turned to Tinder after struggling to secure job opportunities through traditional channels ended up landing three interviews within a week—prompting her to say that finding work on the dating app was “easier” than finding love.
Swedish‑born Samantha Rogers decided to move to London in 2018 and needed to line up interviews before relocating. Unable to make headway through LinkedIn or Indeed, she switched strategies and updated her Tinder bio to include the line “seeking work opportunities," Fortune reported.
“For a long time Tinder offered little to no value exchange for me, but just because I didn’t find dating successful on the app, didn’t mean I couldn’t use the platform creatively for other purposes such as networking, promoting my business, or exploring new social connections,” Rogers said.
The approach worked almost immediately: several men reached out with job leads, while others went a step further and recommended her internally for roles within their organisations.
“I thought, if I’m going to be on Tinder and I haven’t been successful in getting a relationship out of it so far, I might get a job—it turns out that was easier," she said.
Three interviews in a week
Rogers secured two interviews with recruitment consultancies and one with a sales firm, all stemming from Tinder conversations. The exposure was so strong that she eventually had multiple offers—enough to “swipe left” on roles she didn’t consider the right fit.
Though she ultimately did not take the Tinder‑origin jobs, Rogers said the platform still “got [her] in the door quite quickly,” demonstrating the power of tapping under‑used digital spaces during a competitive job market.
Rogers, now a PR account director, credits her Tinder strategy with giving her a faster route into London’s job market. “It’s obviously a very crowded marketplace, and there are so many new emerging channels all the time that may be untapped,” she said.
