Google is bringing its AI travel tools to a global audience with the expansion of its “Flight Deals” feature across more than 200 countries and territories. Initially launched in August in the US, Canada and India, the tool now supports over 60 languages and is live in major markets including the U.K., France, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, Korea and Indonesia. The goal is straightforward: help travellers discover affordable destinations quickly using generative AI.

With Flight Deals, users can simply describe their preferred travel window, destination type or style, and Google Flights will generate low-cost options best suited to their preferences. The system uses generative AI to interpret natural language descriptions and surface relevant results instantly.

Alongside this rollout, Google is boosting AI Mode, its experimental Search interface. Users in the US enrolled in Labs can now build full travel itineraries through Canvas, a workspace originally designed for long-form research and study planning. Google has extended its capabilities to pull real-time data from Flights, Maps, hotels, restaurant listings and activity recommendations, assembling them into structured itineraries. The generated plans include hotel comparisons, Maps reviews, images and activity suggestions arranged for minimal travel time. Travellers can fine-tune these itineraries by asking follow-up questions, such as prioritising proximity to restaurants or outdoor activities.

Google is also widening AI Mode’s “agentic” functions. Previously restricted to Labs testers, these features are now available to all US users, enabling the system to perform tasks like booking restaurant tables, securing event tickets or making beauty and wellness appointments. Users only need to specify details such as date, time, group size and preferred cuisine or venue. AI Mode will then scan reservation platforms and offer suitable options.

Looking ahead, Google plans to let users book flights and hotels directly through AI Mode. People will be able to describe their travel needs and compare routes, pricing, amenities, reviews and room photos within a single conversational experience, streamlining the entire planning and booking workflow.
