Since its takeover by Elon Musk in 2022, X (formerly known as Twitter) has been introducing new features and tools to the social media platform. The company has also declared it aims to compete with LinkedIn for job listings and PayPal for payments. Now, in a new development, X developers have confirmed that they are close to launching their new professional video calling feature.
One of X’s employees and developers Chris Park confirmed this development and posted about this new video conferencing tool. Park also asserted that the initial feedback from the X team was strong, and the company will likely work on bringing more features, such as the ability to pin speakers and better notifications to indicate who has left or joined a call.
Musk also replied to this tweet with a fire emoji, confirming the arrival of this new tool soon. Currently, the platform already has a person-to-person video calls feature with audio broadcasts through X Spaces. However, in the past, X developers have faced technical issues during high-profile Spaces streams.
App researcher Nima Owji also spotted the feature earlier this month, posting a screenshot of the ‘X Conference’ tool with push notifications and spatial audio support. He also suggested that this feature will allow users to set a unique code that they can share with the people they are connecting with.
Another app researcher, P4mui also revealed that the X users will be able to create new meetings directly from the ‘X Conference’ tool, similar to other online conferencing tools such as Zoom, Google Meets, and more.
