Delete these fake trading apps from iPhone and Android smartphones to keep your hard-earned money safe

Three fake apps were using Pig Butchering technique to scam users. Here's all you need to know.

Fraudulent apps making their way to the Play Store and App Store isn’t new. Scammers have managed to bypass all the safety and security checks Google and Apple have in place to get listed on these app stores. A cybersecurity firm – Group IB – has discovered three new apps – SBI-INT (iOS), Finans Insights (Android), and Finans Trader6 (Android) that are targeting Android and iPhone users to run Pig Butchering scams.

Apps have now been removed
According to the report, all three apps mentioned, have been removed from App Store and Play Store. However, before they were removed, they already had several thousands of downloads. The two Android apps have been downloaded over 5000 times from Play Store. It is also to be noted that the UniShadow Trade apps can pretend to be legit cryptocurrency and trading apps which can lure their victims into investing and that can lead to a major financial scam.

Delete them right away
If you have any of these three apps installed on your phone, then you should delete them right away and most importantly, stop investing more into something using these apps.

What is Pig Butchering scam?

For those unaware, the Pig Butchering scam is a type of scam where scammers try to convince users to invest in something for high returns. Scammers do this using fake trading platforms, like these three apps, with made-up information, ads and fake returns. The entire scam is based on social engineering techniques.

Tips to stay safe from Pig Butchering scams
To stay safe from Pig Butchering scams, make sure that you download trusted apps. Also, avoid clicking on random links to invest in something just because they are offering massive returns. Most importantly, avoid getting trapped in the social engineering techniques.
