Now that the iPhone launch is done and dusted, Apple reportedly is gearing up for another event. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is readying new Macs in the “coming weeks”. As per the report by Bloomberg, Apple could launch M4-powered MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and an all-new iMac.
New MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac miniApple, as per the report, could have three M4-powered MacBook Pro models in the offing. There may be a new ‘low-end’ 14-inch MacBook Pro on Apple’s menu. Also expected are 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.
Apple is also expected to bring the M4 processor to its desktops with the Mac mini and iMac in line for an upgrade.
Apple introduced the M4 processor with the iPad Pro earlier this year. M4 has a new up-to-10-core CPU consisting of up to four performance cores and now six efficiency cores. The next-generation cores feature improved branch prediction, with wider decode and execution engines for the performance cores, and a deeper execution engine for the efficiency cores.
M4 has Apple’s fastest Neural Engine ever, capable of up to 38 trillion operations per second, which is faster than the neural processing unit of any AI PC today, claimed Apple at the time of unveiling the processor.
Like with the M3 processor, it is expected that M4 will have a couple of variants like Max and Pro. The 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models should get all the variants.
Interestingly, the report by Bloomberg mentions a 14-inch ‘budget’ MacBook Pro. Apple could introduce that variant of MacBook Pro with just the ‘regular’ M4 processor and keep the more powerful variants for the more expensive MacBook Pro.
It’s not clear as of now if Apple holds an event or does an online event for the launch of new MacBooks. Last year, the company did a virtual event to unveil new MacBooks.
