Android 16 launching in June: List of phones that will receive the update

Google is preparing to roll out the stable version of Android 16 in June 2025, marking a notable shift from its usual release cycle. Traditionally, major Android versions have been released in October, typically in tandem with new Pixel hardware. However, this year, Google is moving faster. The early release window means the beta phase is expected to conclude soon, paving the way for the official version of Android 16 to go live within weeks.

Eligible Pixel devices
As expected, Google’s Pixel lineup will be first in line to receive Android 16. The update will be available for the following models:
• Pixel 6
• Pixel 6 Pro
• Pixel 6a
• Pixel 7
• Pixel 7 Pro
• Pixel 7a
• Pixel 8
• Pixel 8 Pro
• Pixel 8a
• Pixel Fold
• Pixel 9
• Pixel 9 Pro
• Pixel 9 Pro XL
• Pixel 9 Pro Fold
• Pixel 9a

These devices are likely to begin receiving the update shortly after the stable version is released.

Samsung phones likely to get Android 16
Samsung is also expected to roll out Android 16 to several of its premium devices. The Galaxy S25 series — including the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, S25 Ultra, and S25 Edge — is expected to ship with Android 16 pre-installed. In addition, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are also in line to get the update relatively early. Samsung’s upcoming foldables — the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 — are tipped to launch in July with Android 16-based One UI 8 out of the box.

The Galaxy S24 lineup (S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra) may receive the update by the fourth quarter of 2025, assuming Samsung maintains its current schedule.

Vivo, Oppo and others to follow
Smartphones from Vivo, Oppo and other brands are also expected to get the Android 16 update. However, it may take a while and might happen by the end of the year.

Key features in Android 16Android 16 will introduce a refreshed visual identity called Material 3 Expressive. This new design language focuses on dynamic UI elements, smoother animations, background blur effects, and updated system icons. Several Google apps will also adopt this new look, enhancing the overall user experience across the platform.
