AI is changing the world, but Sundar Pichai says the next big tech revolution is already on its way

AI is everywhere. It’s changing the way we work, learn, and live. But what comes after AI? Google CEO Sundar Pichai has some thoughts.In a recent blog, he shared what he thinks could be the next big thing. “AI is bigger than the internet,” he once said. But he knows technology won’t stop here.

Pichai pointed to three big areas that could shape the future -- starting with quantum computing.  “Quantum computing will push the limits of what technology can do,” he wrote. It could help solve huge problems in healthcare, security, and science. "Quantum computing will also help scientists discover new medicines… as well as design more efficient batteries for electric cars, and accelerate progress in fusion and new energy alternatives," said Pichai. According to the Google CEO, quantum computing is the next big paradigm shift in computing, following AI.

Pichai also spoke about Google's latest breakthrough in quantum computing. "Our state of the art Willow quantum chip solved a computation in under five minutes that would take a classical computer ten septillion years — that’s a one, followed by twenty-five zeros, longer than the universe has existed, several times over," said Pichai.

Secondly, Pichai believes that AI will become smarter, cheaper, and easier to use. “AI will keep getting better, cheaper, and more useful,” he said. It might soon feel like a natural part of everyday life.

Lastly, Pichai thinks the way we interact with technology will change. “Computers will understand us better,” he suggests. Future devices may respond to us more naturally, making tech feel effortless.

Google is already working on these ideas. The company is investing in AI, quantum computing, and new ways to improve tech experiences.

AI is huge right now, but Pichai is already thinking ahead. The next big thing might be closer than we think.
