The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit has issued a clarification regarding a viral video being circulated on social media platforms in connection with the recent Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. The video, which shows a passenger capturing moments inside an aircraft, is being falsely linked to the incident. PIB has confirmed that the video is not related to the Ahmedabad crash and actually dates back to a 2023 plane crash in Nepal.

Video linked to old incident

In its statement, PIB Fact Check stated that the viral video is from the tragic plane crash that occurred in Nepal in January 2023. The clarification was shared via an official post on X, which included a screenshot of the misleading post and the label “पुराना वीडियो” (old video) stamped prominently on it.

The aircraft, bound for London Gatwick, was carrying 242 people, including 169 Indian nationals. It crashed within five minutes of takeoff near the Meghani Nagar area, resulting in the loss of all lives on board.
