The all-new revamped Aadhaar app is now available for download, following its announcement in November 2025. The app has been rolled out on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, marking a significant update to how users access and manage Aadhaar-related services on their smartphones.

According to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the primary objective behind the redesigned Aadhaar app is to simplify access to key services while strengthening digital identity management. The app is designed to offer a more streamlined, secure, and user-friendly experience, allowing individuals to handle Aadhaar-related tasks directly from their mobile devices.

A key focus of the revamped Aadhaar app is reducing reliance on physical Aadhaar copies and limiting the risks associated with data misuse. UIDAI aims to address concerns that arise when users share photocopies of their Aadhaar card for routine verification purposes such as hotel check-ins, SIM card issuance, workplace verification, and other everyday requirements. By enabling secure digital verification and controlled data sharing, the app seeks to minimise unnecessary exposure of personal information while making Aadhaar usage more practical in day-to-day scenarios.

New Aadhaar app features

Verify Aadhaar offline

The app allows identity verification without an internet connection. Users do not need to share their Aadhaar number or biometric data, making routine checks more secure.

Share Aadhaar details selectively

Instead of providing a full Aadhaar copy, users can choose to share only specific information such as name or age, reducing unnecessary exposure of personal data.

Update mobile number digitally

Users can change the mobile number linked to Aadhaar directly through the app, removing the need to visit an enrolment centre, subject to authentication and a nominal fee.

Update address through the app

Address changes can be submitted digitally using Aadhaar-based authentication, simplifying a process that earlier required physical visits.

Manage multiple profiles and contact card

The app supports up to five Aadhaar profiles on one device, useful for families, and includes a secure Aadhaar contact card for limited information sharing.
