The Economic Survey for 2026–27 will be presented in Parliament today, January 29, ahead of the Union Budget scheduled for February 1. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Budget for the ninth consecutive time, followed by a media briefing from Chief Economic Adviser V Anantha Nageswaran on the survey’s key findings.

Ahead of the Union Budget 2026–27, homemakers across India have called on the government to prioritize women-centric and middle-class-friendly measures, citing rising costs of essentials like pulses, cooking oil, and LPG. Many urged tax relief for salaried employees, price controls on daily commodities, and increased safety and health measures for women.

The Economic Survey of India is set to be presented today, January 29, providing an overview of the 2025–26 economy ahead of the Union Budget on February 1. The Budget Session, spanning 30 sittings over 65 days, will adjourn on February 13 and reconvene on March 9 to allow parliamentary committees to examine ministry-wise Demands for Grants.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget 2026–27 on February 1, marking her eighth consecutive budget. The Budget Session of Parliament began on January 28 and will be held in two phases. The first phase runs until February 13, while the second phase is scheduled from March 9 to April 2.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will brief the media at the Parliament complex on Wednesday morning, ahead of the start of the day’s proceedings.

The Prime Minister will address reporters at Hans Dwar in the Parliament complex at 10 am. His remarks are expected to outline the agenda for the session and signal the government’s key legislative and policy priorities.
