The distinguished Indian pistol shooter recently made history by becoming the first Indian athlete in the post-independence era to win two Olympic medals in a single edition of the Games in Paris. Manu Bhaker claimed bronze medals in both the 10m air pistol and mixed 10m air pistol events.
Since her remarkable achievement in Paris, the 22-year-old has been the focus of national admiration, receiving immense support and affection. She was also India’s flag bearer at the closing ceremony of the 33rd Olympic Games in the French capital.
Bhaker, who hails from Haryana, secured her first bronze medal in the Women's 10m Air Pistol event, marking the start of India’s medal tally at the Games. She narrowly missed a third bronze, finishing fourth in the Women's 25m Pistol event.
Bhaker is now expected to miss the World Cup in New Delhi this October, as she has decided to take a three-month break. "I am not sure whether she will be at the Shooting World Cup in October because she is taking a three-month break. It's a normal break; she has been training for a long time," her coach Jaspal Rana told PTI.
