The West Indies dominated South Africa in the T20I series, completing a clean sweep with an 8-wicket victory in the final match.
Chasing a modest target of 164, the Windies openers, Brandon King and Johnson Charles, provided a strong start with a 92-run partnership in just 6.4 overs. Charles was particularly destructive, scoring a rapid 69 off just 26 balls.
Maintaining the momentum, Kyle Mayers took the crease after stand-in skipper King departed for 44 (28 balls). With 9.1 overs remaining, the West Indies held a score of 130-2. Mayers finished not out on 36, solidifying the West Indies' strong position heading into the T20 World Cup which they co-host with the United States.
King expressed satisfaction with his team's performance, highlighting the importance of the win as preparation for the upcoming World Cup. He also praised the bowling attack's consistency throughout the series.
South Africa's batting struggled throughout the series. Stand-in captain Rassie van der Dussen's 77 provided the only real resistance, but the Windies bowlers, with Obed McCoy, Shamar Joseph, and Gudakesh Motie leading the way, restricted them to a manageable total.
Van der Dussen was blunt in his assessment of the series loss, admitting South Africa were outplayed in all aspects of the game. He emphasised the need for experienced players to step up in the upcoming World Cup.
