Shreyas Iyer didn’t have to wait long to celebrate. In a pivotal moment, Kuldeep Yadav struck with his very first delivery of the final, removing Rachin Ravindra.

Bowling a well-disguised googly from over the wicket, Kuldeep outfoxed Ravindra, who misjudged the turn while staying on the back foot. The ball spun in sharply, slipped past the inside edge, and rattled the stumps. Ravindra walked back after a solid 37 off 29 balls, leaving New Zealand at 69/2 in 10.1 overs.
Earlier, Will Young and Rachin Ravindra had built a steady foundation, putting together a 50-run stand at an impressive scoring rate. In the seventh over, Young showcased his intent by pulling a short ball from Mohammed Shami between mid-wicket and mid-on for four.
Earlier, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the coin toss and chose to bat first against India in the 2025 Champions Trophy final.
