According to the local media, Jeet Rasikbhai Pabari, the brother-in-law of Cheteshwar Pujara, was discovered dead at his Rajkot home in what police have determined was a suicide. Soon after being informed, officers from the Malviyanagar police station arrived on the spot and began an official inquiry.

Exactly one year after Jeet's ex-fiancee filed a rape accusation against him in 2024, the incident took place on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. The coincidental dates have prompted investigators to speculate that his mental condition might have been influenced by ongoing case-related stress.

After being taken to a private hospital nearby, Jeet was pronounced dead upon arrival. His body has been sent for post-mortem investigation, and officials said the findings, together with further inquiry, will assist establish what led to the tragedy.

Jeet's previous fiancee accused him of coercing her into a sexual relationship with the promise of marriage, according to the FIR filed last year. She further claimed that the abuse persisted after their engagement and that he abruptly ended the relationship.

Pujara is one of India's most dependable and tenacious Test batsmen in the current age. After making his Test debut in 2010, he quickly established himself as the mainstay of India's middle order, particularly following Rahul Dravid's retirement, whose steadiness he frequently evoked.

His greatest accomplishments came abroad, including the 2018–19 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, when India's historic series victory was largely due to his enormous hundreds and extended stays at the crease. He became an expert at absorbing pressure at home and scored many match-winning knocks on turning tracks.

He ended his career in India across all formats by retiring earlier this year.

In a customary Rajkot ceremony in February 2013, Pujara wed Puja Pabari. The couple is well-known for having a close-knit family and frequently posts glimpses of their relationship on social media.

The Diary of a Cricketer's Wife: A Very Unusual Memoir, a book on Pabari and Pujara's life, was just released by Pabari.
