IPL 2025 Auction Day 1 Highlights: Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer bag massive deals; KL Rahul goes to Delhi Capitals

Uncapped player Rasikh Salam Dar was the highlight in the end, securing a remarkable INR 6 crore deal with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Having previously played for Mumbai Indians (MI), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Delhi Capitals (DC), Dar has taken nine wickets in eight IPL matches during his career.

Suyash Sharma goes to Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 2.6 crore. Mumbai Indians were interested but they back out later and go for the next leg spinner Karn Sharma who's sold for Rs 50 lakhs. Piyush Chawla goes unsold whereas Mayank Markande joins Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 30 lakhs.

Punjab Kings win the bidding war for Yash Thakur and they get the fast bowler for Rs 1.8 crore. Simarjeet Singh is next and Chennai Super Kings start bidding for him.

Mohit Sharma has joined Delhi Capitals for Rs 2.2 crore, Vyshak Vijaykumar goes to Punjab Kings for Rs 1.8 crore. Vaibhav Arora is up next and Kolkata Knight Riders are fighting with Delhi Capitals for him. In the end, KKR get him for Rs 1.8 crore.

Rajasthan Royals win the bidding war against Punjab Kings to get Akash Madhwal for Rs 1.2 crore. Mohit Sharma is up next and it is between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals at the moment, price is at Rs 1.7 crore with DC.

Ishan Kishan is bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 11.25 crore. After an intense bidding war between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings, Sunrisers get the wicket-keeper batter for Rs 11.25 crore which looks like a tremendous buy.

Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians were interested in the wicket-keeper batter from England but in the end RCB sign the player for Rs 11.5 crore. Ishan Kishan is up for grabs next.

Marcus Stoinis joins the Punjab Kings for Rs 11 crore and Lucknow Super Giants do not use their RTM card. Mitchell Marsh is the player next up for grabs.

Venkatesh Iyer has been bought for Rs 23.75 crore by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). An intense bidding war took place between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders for Iyer.

Ravichandran Ashwin bought by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 9.75 crore. Next up is Venkatesh Iyer in the set and Kolkata Knight Riders waste no time making the first bid.

England batter Harry Brook has joined the Delhi Capitals for Rs 6.25 crore. Chennai Super Kings were interested in the batter but they have backed out in the end. Devdutt Padikkal goes unsold with a base price of Rs 2 crore. Aiden Markram has been bought by the Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 2 crore.

KL Rahul has been signed by the Delhi Capitals (DC). Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) went head to head for the wicket-keeper batter but in the Delhi aquire the India star.

Royal Challengers Bangalore's first buy of this auction is Liam Livingstone and they have bought the England all-rounder for Rs 8.75 crore. This looks like a steal-deal for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Mohammed Siraj has been aquired by the Gujarat Titans for Rs 12.25 crore. Royal Challengers Bangalore have not used their Right-to-Match card. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals also showed interest but in the Gujarat get the fast bowler.

Yuzvendra Chahal has joined the Punjab Kings for Rs 18 crore. Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans were interested, Chennai Super Kings also entered the bidding but in the Punjab Kings have aquired the leg-spinner.

David Miller has joined the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for Rs 7.5 crore. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) were also interest in the batter but in the LSG aquire former Proteas captain for Rs 7.5 crore.

Mohammed Shami is the first player from Marquee Set 2 and KKR are keen on aquiring the pacer who's returning from injury. At 10 crore SRH bid for the fast-bowler and GT do not use their RTM card. Shami joins SRH for Rs 10 crore.

Rishabh Pant has joined Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for Rs 27 crore as Delhi Capitals used their RTM card at Rs 20.75 crore. LSG have aquired the wicket-keeper batter and he is now the most expensive player in history of IPL.

Mitchell Starc joins Delhi Capitals for Rs 11.75 crore. KKR began the bidding and MI were also interest for the pacer in the beginning. KKR and RCB got into a bidding war but in the DC got back into the game to aquire the pacer for Rs 11.75 crore. Next up is Rishabh Pant and LSG waste no time in beginning the procedure.

Jos Buttler has joined the Gujarat Titans for Rs 15.75 crore. RR and GT were involved in a intense bidding war, PBKS joined in at Rs 12.25 crore but in the GT aquire the England captain.

Shreyas Iyer has crossed the Rs 23 crore mark as Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals go all in for the former KKR captain who won the title in 2024 season. In the end, Punjab Kings bought Iyer for Rs 26.75 crore. He is the most expensive player in history of IPL.

Former KKR captain comes up with a base price of Rs 2 crore. Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals having an intense bidding war for Shreyas Iyer and the price has now crossed Rs 14 crore.

Gujarat Titans have aquired Kagiso Rabada for Rs 10.75 crore. PBKS do not use their RTM card this time and GT have their first buy of the auction.

First it was CSK and DC after that GT entered the bid at Rs 7.5 crore. At the end, Sunrisers Hyderabad bought Arshdeep Singh for Rs 15.75 crore and PBKS have used their RTM to aquire the pacer for Rs 18 crore.

Arshdeep Singh is the first player up for grabs from Marquee 1 set. Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals get into the biding war for the left-arm pacer. The price has already crossed Rs 5 crore.

Mallika Sagar is the auctioneer for IPL 2025 mega auction. In the 2024 auction, she became the first female to wield the hammer in an IPL auction replacing Hugh Edmeades who was in charge of the position from 2019 to 2022.

Rishabh Pant is expected to get sold for the highest price in this auction after parting ways with DC. Arshdeep Singh is another player who will surely get big bucks.

IPL Auction 2025 Live Updates: Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders have retained six players each, hence they are the only franchises not eligible to use the RTM option.

IPL Auction 2025 Live Updates: The RTM (Right to Match) rule allows franchise to bring back a player, who was not retained. A team can use the RTM card to match the highest bid placed on the player by another franchise. However, there's a twist. If a franchise exercises the RTM option, the opposing franchise gets one final opportunity to raise their bid for the player. If the original team then matches this final bid, they retain the player. Otherwise, the player goes to the highest bidder, and the original team's RTM card is restored.
