Bangladesh are all set to lock horns with Netherlands at the Arnos Vale Ground in Saint Vincent. The Bangladesh Tigers are going through a rough patch, having dealt with a heartbreaking last-over loss in their previous match against South Africa. Even after Keshav Maharaj presented Mahmudullah and Jaker Ali with two full tosses, they were unable to score the 11 needed to take the team over the finish line.
The opening partnership has been a problem area for Bangladesh, with neither of the two pairs tried stitching together anything of substance. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Tanzid Hasan stepped out to open the batting in the previous game, after Soumya Sarkar was dropped from the playing XI.
On the other hand, Netherlands have been putting on a great show at the T20 World Cup, especially with their bowling. They beat Nepal to kick off their tournament, and then gave South Africa an almighty scare before David Miller settled it in favour of the Proteas. When it comes to the batting, Max O’Dowd has been the lone ranger for the Dutch, but the seam-bowling line-up of Vivian Kingma, Paul van Meekeren, Bas de Leede and Logan van Beek has been well supported by the left-arm spin of Tim Pringle.
Bangladesh are currently second in Group D, marginally ahead of the Netherlands on net run rate. With South Africa more or less assured of a place in the Super 8s, this game effectively becomes a face-off to see who will join them in the next stage. With Arnos Vale not having seen a clash of this magnitude in nearly a decade, it should be quite an occasion.
BAN vs NED Pitch Report
It's been almost a decade since the Arnos Vale Stadium last saw an international game, and it hasn't been part of the Caribbean Premier League itineraries either. So, it's quite tricky to gauge what the playing conditions will be like.
BAN vs NED Head-to-head record
In their four T20I battles, Bangladesh has clinched victory three times against the Netherlands, who have only secured one win. These teams met in the 2016 and 2022 ICC T20 World Cups, with Bangladesh coming out on top in both matchups.
