BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla has revealed that Champions Trophy squad for India will be announced on January 18 or 19.

The Indian cricket team squad for Champions Trophy 2025 will be selected on January 18 or 19, reports Network18.

Rohit Sharma is key for Team India in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. He has been struggling with form recently but if he gets back to his best, India will be handed a major boost.

BCCI have appointed Devajit Saikia as the replacement for Jay Shah as the secretary of the Indian Cricket Board. Saikia is a former Assam cricketer and he attended the recent meeting with Roger Binny, Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma.

Former India opener Aakash Chopra believes that Varun Chakaravarthy will replace Ravindra Jadeja in the team for the Champions Trophy 2025.

"Varun Chakaravarthy is picking up wickets one after the other. He has done well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy also. He took a five-wicket haul against Rajasthan and has been continuously doing well. Since he has returned to the Indian T20I team, he has been picking up wickets every single time," he said on his YouTube channel.

"The rumour market is hot, the Indian cricket atmosphere has become like that as we get a lot of source-based news and a few of them come true, that Varun Chakravarthy could be picked for the Champions Trophy. If he gets picked, who will go out - Ravindra Jadeja? That's what I have been hearing."

An Indian Express report suggests that BCCI have requested ICC to extend the deadline for announcing the squad for the Champions Trophy 2025.

As reports suggest that Jasprit Bumrah is likely to miss the initial stage of the Champions Trophy, all eyes will be on Mohammed Shami who has got picked for the T20I series against England.

Star batter Saim Ayub has been ruled out due to injury and he is expected to comeback after six months due to issues in his ankle. Pakistan are grouped with India, New Zealand and Bangladesh in the Champions Trophy.

Jasprit Bumrah who got 32 wickets in the Test series against Australia has visited NCA where his recovery is being monitored, reports Indian Express. He is expected to get fully fit before the Champions Trophy knockout stages.

"He (Bumrah) will be going to NCA for his rehabilitation. The initial report says he doesn't have a fracture but has swelling on his back. So the NCA will monitor his recovery and he will be there for three weeks. But even after that, he will have to play a match or two, even if they are practice games organised to check his match fitness," the report quoted a source as saying.
