The Pakistan Cricket Board faces a lot of criticism after Rachin Ravindra injured himself during the 1st ODI of the tri-series between New Zealand and Pakistan. Attempting a catch, the Kiwi all-rounder failed to spot the ball and it struck on his head, causing heavy bleeding. The injury was so serious that he was rushed off the field with his face covered in a towel.
The cricket board of the nation set to hosts the upcoming Champions Trophy was questioned by fans and the floodlights of the Lahore Gaddifi Stadium were held responsible for the incident. Some fans even demaned the Champions Trophy 2025 to be removed from Pakistan due to lack of basic necessities. However, the whole Pakistan cricket community has reacted strongly to the situation with former captain Salman Butt holding Rachin Ravindra accountable for his own injury.
"There's no point trying to make people understand when they don't want to. It's irrelevant. These are some of the latest LED lights that have been installed, so these are fine. When New Zealand players hit sixes off deliveries bowled at close to 150 kph, were the lights not working then? A player who was standing 70 meters away failed to take the catch because of his misjudgement. He is a fine fielder, but perhaps his leg slipped, and he got hurt," he said on a local news channel.
Despite New Zealand Cricket's official update stating that the all-rounder sustained a forehead laceration requiring stitches and ongoing monitoring, Butt remarked that Rachin misjudged the ball and suffered the consequences.
