Shri Vallabhacharya Jayanti 2025: When is Varuthini Ekadashi? Know Date, Muhurat and more

Shri Vallabhacharya Jayanti 2025: Shri Vallabhacharya Jayanti marks the birth anniversary of Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya, a revered spiritual leader and philosopher who laid the foundation of the Pushti Marg sect in India. An ardent devotee of Lord Krishna, he dedicated his life to the worship of Shrinathji—one of the most prominent forms of Lord Krishna.

Born in the year 1479 C.E. in Kashi (now Varanasi), Shri Vallabhacharya hailed from a Telugu Brahmin family. His teachings and spiritual practices continue to influence devotees and followers, especially those belonging to the Vaishnav tradition.

Date and Significance

In 2025, the 546th birth anniversary of Shri Vallabhacharya will be observed on Thursday, April 24. This auspicious day coincides with Varuthini Ekadashi, an important fasting day in the Hindu calendar.

According to the Purnimanta lunar calendar widely used in North India, Shri Vallabhacharya was born on Krishna Paksha Ekadashi during the month of Vaishakha. In contrast, the Amanta calendar followed in other regions marks this Ekadashi in the month of Chaitra. While the month names vary, the tithi (lunar day) remains the same in both systems.

Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya is deeply respected for his teachings that emphasise unconditional devotion (Pushti Bhakti) to Lord Krishna. His contributions to Bhakti literature and philosophy have shaped the religious practices of millions of followers. On this day, devotees honour his legacy through prayers, bhajans, and recitation of his teachings.

Shri Vallabhacharya Jayanti is not just a day of remembrance but a celebration of spiritual insight, devotion, and philosophical brilliance. Coinciding with Varuthini Ekadashi, the day becomes even more auspicious for devotees of Lord Krishna, who observe fasts and engage in devotional activities to mark the occasion.
