Bilaspur (Himachal Pradesh): As part of a Rs 100-crore temple development project, the famous Naina Devi Temple in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, is undergoing a major transformation aimed at improving pilgrim safety, convenience, and tourism infrastructure. According to Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar, 150 CCTV cameras have been installed from Toba on the Punjab border to the Naina Devi Temple complex, enhancing round-the-clock monitoring of devotee movement.

Integrated Command and Control Centre Established

A modern integrated command and control centre has been set up within the temple premises to keep track of crowd movement and ensure better security management during peak pilgrimage periods and festivals.

New Arrival Hall and Devotee Facilities

An arrival hall capable of accommodating 1,500 to 2,000 devotees has been completed to manage the large influx of visitors. Additionally, devotees can now book facilities in the Matri Anchal and Matri Sharan buildings both online and offline, making the pilgrimage process more convenient.

Traffic and Crowd Management Upgraded

To streamline traffic flow, a dedicated police traffic control room has been set up near the temple bus stand. This step has significantly improved crowd management during major festivals, ensuring a smoother experience for devotees and tourists alike.

Temple Beautification and Lighting Project

The first phase of temple facade beautification and lighting has already been awarded to contractors, while the second phase is awaiting approval. These upgrades will add to the temple’s spiritual and visual appeal, especially during festive evenings.

Proposed Additions: Aarti Hall, Counter Room and Renovation Works

Plans are underway to construct a modern counter room and an aarti hall within the temple complex. The sacred Kripali Kund will also be renovated, featuring new idols and decorative lighting, to enhance the spiritual experience of devotees.

Improved Pilgrimage Facilities and Tourism Boost

Separate bathing areas for men and women will be developed at Kaula Wala Toba, while a stadium near the cave will be redesigned to host religious and cultural events. A new café, to be built by the Tourism Department on temple trust land, will soon begin construction. The site will also include shops operated by self-help groups to promote local handicrafts and products.

Cable Car to Connect Naina Devi and Baba Balak Nath Temples

In a major infrastructural boost, plans are being finalized to link the Naina Devi and Baba Balak Nath (Shahtalai) temples via a cable car over the Govind Sagar Lake. This project aims to enhance religious tourism connectivity and attract more visitors to the region.
