Ganesh Visarjan 2025 in Mumbai: BMC Sets Up Artificial Ponds, Safety Measures and Medical Aid for Anant Chaturdashi (representative image/PTI)
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced extensive preparations for Ganesh Visarjan 2025 in Mumbai, which will take place on Anant Chaturdashi, Saturday, September 6, 2025. To ensure a safe, smooth and eco-friendly farewell to Lord Ganesha, the civic body has rolled out a detailed plan covering immersion spots, artificial ponds, medical facilities and security measures across the city.
Artificial Ponds and Immersion Spots in Mumbai

This year, the BMC has set up 70 natural immersion points and 290 artificial ponds across Mumbai city and suburbs. The civic body has urged citizens to prefer artificial ponds for idol immersion to reduce the environmental impact and avoid overcrowding at beaches, lakes, and other natural water bodies.
To make it easier, the BMC has launched a dedicated link on its website and QR codes to help devotees locate their nearest artificial pond. Details are also available on the BMC WhatsApp chatbot (8999-22-8999).
Ganesh Visarjan 2025: Safety Arrangements
Nearly 10,000 officials and staff will be deployed across immersion spots in Mumbai. Key facilities include:
- 2,178 lifeguards and 56 motorboats at beaches for rescue support
- 1,175 steel plates placed on beaches to prevent vehicles from sinking into the sand
- 66 German rafts for immersing smaller idols
- 42 cranes and 287 welcome booths at major visarjan points
- 245 control rooms and 129 watchtowers for real-time monitoring
Additionally, Mumbai Fire Brigade teams will remain on standby for emergencies.
Health and Medical Facilities
The BMC has ensured that devotees have access to medical support throughout the visarjan. The arrangements include:
- 236 first-aid centres and 115 ambulances on standby
- 594 Nirmalya Kalash and 307 vehicles to collect floral waste
- 6,188 flood-lights and 138 searchlights for safe immersion at night
- 197 temporary toilets for devotees’ convenience

To prevent mishaps during immersion, the civic body has issued tide timings for September 6, 2025:
- High Tide: 11:09 am (4.20 metres), 11:17 pm (3.87 metres)
- Low Tide: 5:13 pm (1.41 metres), 5:06 am next day (0.69 metres)
- Next Day High Tide (Sept 7): 11:40 am (4.42 metres)
Safety and Health Advisory for DevoteesThe BMC and Mumbai Police have urged devotees to follow safety guidelines during Ganesh Visarjan:
- Avoid deep-water immersion; trained staff will assist.
- Be cautious during high and low tide timings.
- Stay alert against jellyfish and marine stings; first-aid teams are present.
- Parents must closely monitor children near water bodies.
- Do not spread or believe in rumours during the festival.
The BMC, along with Mumbai Police, has appealed to citizens to celebrate Ganeshotsav peacefully, ensuring that the grand farewell of Lord Ganesha is safe, organized, and eco-friendly. With artificial ponds, medical aid facilities, lifeguards, and 24x7 monitoring, the civic body is aiming for a smooth visarjan on Anant Chaturdashi.
