At least 18 people, including five children, were killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza, according to Palestinian officials. The airstrikes targeted central and northern Gaza, including the urban Nuseirat and Bureij refugee camps. Two strikes hit tents housing displaced people, causing significant casualties. Nine bodies, including three children, were brought to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, as confirmed by an Associated Press reporter.
In another strike in northern Gaza, an Israeli attack on a family home in Jabaliya refugee camp resulted in nine deaths, including two women and two children, as reported by the Civil Defense. Footage showed first responders recovering bodies from the rubble.
Israel launched its ground and air operations earlier this week, particularly focusing on Jabaliya, a densely populated camp. These military actions follow last year’s assault by Hamas militants, who stormed into Israeli territory, resulting in the deaths of around 1,200 civilians and the abduction of 250 others, some of whom remain in Gaza. The conflict, initially sparked by this attack, has escalated with Hezbollah also joining the fight, launching rockets at Israel from Lebanon.
