Ayushman Bharat has seen enrolments surge to 354.9 million from 58 million over five years, according to government data. As of September 23, the government had issued 354.9 million Ayushman Bharat cards, reflecting a 42 percent increase from the previous year. Hospitalisations — covered by the scheme with an insurance limit of Rs 5 lakh a family—rose by 19.9 percent to 68.62 million. A Moneycontrol analysis reveals that less populated states like Tamil Nadu and Karnataka accounted for 26.5 percent of total hospitalisations, while states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar had only a 6.1 percent share.
