Luigi Mangione, 26, was arrested in Altoona, Pennsylvania, for the murder of UnitedHealth executive Brian Thompson. Thompson, 50, was shot and killed outside a Manhattan hotel on December 4. Mangione was identified after being spotted at a McDonald's, where a witness recognized him from police photos. Police found a firearm with a silencer, matching the weapon used in the shooting, as well as multiple fraudulent IDs, including a fake New Jersey ID matching the one used by the gunman to check into a Manhattan hostel before the murder. Mangione also had a handwritten document detailing his motivations, indicating ill will toward corporate America. He was arrested on firearms charges, and investigators discovered several electronic devices, which are being examined. Authorities believe Mangione fled New York using a bus. He will likely be extradited to New York to face charges for Thompson’s murder.
