A woman lodged a police complaint against her husband for failing to buy her a saree in a bizarre case from Agra, Uttar Pradesh. The unusual grievance, which escalated into a heated argument, was referred to a family counselling centre for resolution where the woman alleged domestic violence against her husband.

The couple, married since 2022, had been plagued by frequent disputes over minor matters, reports say. The wife's demand for a new saree became a flashpoint, bringing underlying tensions to the fore.

At the family counselling centre, she detailed her issues, alleging not only that her husband failed to buy the saree but also that he had been physically abusive. In turn, the husband accused his wife of making late-night phone calls.

During the counselling sessions, mediators worked to bridge the couple's differences. The breakthrough came when the husband agreed to his wife's condition and bought her the desired saree. This gesture paved the way for reconciliation, and the couple left the centre united.
