Unleashing Opportunities: India's Journey of Accelerating Digital Transformation Through Cloud

In the vibrant tapestry of India's economic landscape, the threads of digital transformation are intricately woven with cloud adoption. The synergy between these two forces is redefining how businesses operate, innovate, and thrive in the 21st century. Cloud technology has emerged as an important leveler of opportunity. Gone are the days when large corporate giants and legacy businesses had the corner on innovation. Far from it. Just ask today's cloud native startups.

However, the devil is in the details, and there is much to explore in the power and potential of Cloud in unleashing wave upon wave of unprecedented opportunities. To navigate this as yet uncharted landscape, Google Cloud and Persistent Systems, in association with Moneycontrol, are bringing together thought leaders from diverse industries to explore the pivotal role of cloud adoption in reshaping modern businesses.

The first Leader's Circle brings together leaders from Agritech, HealthTech and CX solutions with Google Cloud's top minds, to explore how India is Accelerating Digital Transformation with Cloud Adoption. Moneycontrol's Gautam Srinivasan moderated a spirited discussion between panelists Amit Choudhary, Chief Product and Technology Officer, Ecom Express Private Limited; Prabhat Kumar, Chief Technology Officer, Redcliffe Labs; Jatinder Alagh, Chief Technology Officer, Arya Collateral Warehousing Services Private Limited; Arun Dudee, Chief Technology Officer, DeHaat; Rishi Aggarwal, Senior Director IT, Concentrix; Harsh Sarohi, Senior Vice President of Technology, TradeIndia.com - Infocom Network Private Limited, along with Prashant Dagar, Customer Engineering Leader - Data Analytics and Machine Learning, Google Cloud; and Shantanu Ghosh, Associate Vice President - Engineering Persistent

Amit Choudhary kicked off the discussion by noting the impact of Cloud technology on businesses' ability to scale up and down rapidly at a level that just isn't achievable on-prem. He also highlighted the role that managed services play in bridging the gaps of skill and talent - often the business may not have the skill sets required for a launch, but with managed services, these challenges become easier to circumvent. Prabhat Kumar then highlighted the importance of easy and secure data storage and retrieval, combined with analytics. It plays an important role in helping with scalability and in being able to design seamless customer journeys that are flexible, frictionless and robust.

Arun Dudee drew attention to the specific challenges and opportunities in the Agritech sector where data can come from various sources and significant effort is required in ensuring that solutions can cope with both large data sets and variety in these data sets, even before analytics can do its work. In India, in particular, Agritech solutions need to encompass various geographies and languages, in addition to users who range from tech savvy to tech novices.

Rishi Aggarwal also spoke to the need for catering to diverse customer segments, and how generative AI solutions, enabled by Cloud, are acting as game changers in the CX industry. By leveraging these solutions, CX businesses are now able to enable hyper personalisation at scale, unlocking new opportunities.

For Jatinder Alagh, as a CTO, what's most important is the flexibility and cost saving that Cloud enables, as their customer base and data mining needs grow. In today's landscape where GPUs are a rare commodity, Cloud enables Jatinder to sidestep the costs and problems associated with rapid procurement on the one hand and spare capacity on the other. Harsh Sarohi agreed with Jatinder, and added ease and cost effectiveness of app migration to his list of wins with Cloud. By leveraging Kubernetes to migrate legacy applications, Harsh has been able to reduce costs by a whopping 40%.

Prashant Dagar talked about Cloud technology as an enabler for agility - any data democratization gives employees the power to dynamically adjust the way a brand approaches customers needs and problems, while Santanu Ghosh expanded on these benefits by pointing out how Cloud providers work to benefit not just digital native businesses, but legacy businesses in traditional industries as well.
