This tech company is letting its 30,000 employees across 33 countries to work fully remote

'We have been very flexible; we will continue being very flexible,' Martin Migoya, the founder and CEO of software company Globant, said. The software company is also in the process of hiring another 20,000 employees over the next five years as part of a $1 billion investment.

The founder and CEO of software company Globant, Martin Migoya, does not believe in holding a gun to the head of his employees to make them return to working from the office. In fact, he has adopted a flexible approach, allowing all of their almost 30,000 employees spread across 33 countries to continue working remote, if they wish to. This makes Globant one of the world’s largest tech companies by headcount to remain fully remote.

“We have been very flexible; we will continue being very flexible,” Migoya told Bloomberg in an interview. “The office must be an attraction point for the people to get together, rather than just the desk in which you do your job. It’s a connection engine for the company.”

It’s not that Migoya doesn’t appreciate in-person work. The company has been redesigning its offices post-pandemic to suit the changing needs of its employees. Individual desks have been replaced with more round tables that fit several people, while creating extra lounge space and work stations for private meetings, the publication reported.

Employees who choose to work from the head office in Buenos Aires can fire up the grill for some Argentine barbecue, hit the gym, play ping-pong, or even ride a mechanical bull.

Post-pandemic, Migoya said his initial impulse was to make all his employees return to office. He, however, settled on a softer approach and decided to make the offices more flexible and welcoming. “We found that people come, they get together, they use our offices in a different way, and we’ve been modifying our offices to attend to that new reality,” he told Bloomberg.

Globant is also in the process of hiring another 20,000 employees over the next five years as part of a $1 billion investment.
