All eyes on crucial BCCI meet today

In a bid to cleanse the game and restore faith in the administrators, the Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) working committee is set to meet on Sunday where embattled BCCI President N Srinivasan is likely to step aside pending an inquiry.

But sources have told CNN-IBN that Srinivasan has laid down two conditions - first, he wants to appoint the new secretary and treasurer and prevent Ajay Shirke and Sanjay Jagdale from coming back on board and Srinivasan is also keen to continue as the BCCI's representative to ICC.

This comes after another jolt to N Srinivasan's diminishing hold over the BCCI came on Saturday with Rajeev Shukla, Chairman of the IPL and one of the voices calling for his resignation as BCCI chief resigning on the eve of the crucal meet in Chennai. "I will not be handling the IPL next season. I have done it for two years and I do not want to do it any more. I have sent my resignation to the BCCI President," Shukla said.

In fact Shukla over the past few days has been part of the trio (rajeev Shukla, Anurag Thakur, Arun Jaitley) that set in motion the intricate gameplan to oust the most powerful man in cricket from his very own board. Shukla's resignation came on the day when the BCCI top brass finally moved in for the kill - persuading the under-fire board chief to call for an Emergent Working Committee meeting in Chennai on Sunday.

While noises had been made about the need for propriety, CNN-IBN has learnt that these politicians-cum cricket bosses touched base with the chiefs of almost all BCCI affiliate associations to ensure they would have a majority if the need to bring a no-confidence motion against N Srinivasan arose.

CNN-IBN has learnt that Srinivasan has indicated that he wants to remain India's representative in the ICC, obviously keeping an eye on his future. The board, however, is unlikely to allow Srinivasan to run the board by proxy, and with former board bosses like Jagmohan Dalmiya looking to attend the meeting, Sunday could be a very fractitious chapter in the history of the BCCI.

Scenario 1 - N Srinivasan, BCCI President resigns

Working committee accepts his resignation and appoints an interim President

Scenario 2 - N Srinivasan, BCCI President doesn't attend the meeting

One of the Vice Presidents will chair the meeting and the Committee will ask for SGM for voting

Scenario 3 - N Srinivasan, BCCI President steps aside pending inquiry

Working committee approves it and an interim President is appointed

Scenario 4 - N Srinivasan, BCCI President refuses to resign

10 working committee members ask for SGM to bring no-trust vote against President

Also, for all four scenarios, the board has the option of voting by secret ballot on issues that come up for debate. For ballot, only 15 associations/affiliated units can vote plus the President, office bearers can't vote. This means only 16 of the 22 can vote.
