Veteran actor and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Mithun Chakraborty has been hospitalised in Kolkata after complaining of chest pain.

Mithun Chakraborty, 73, was hospitalised after complaining of chest pain

Veteran actor and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Mithun Chakraborty has been hospitalised in Kolkata after complaining of chest pain. According to an India Today report, the 73-year-old was rushed to Kolkata’s Apollo Hospital on Saturday morning.

Sources close to Chakraborty said the actor-politician had complained of chest pain and uneasiness, following which he was taken to Apollo Hospital’s emergency unit. He is currently undergoing treatment at the private hospital.

The actor’s family has not yet issued a formal statement. Apollo Hospital is also yet to confirm reports of his hospitalisation.

Mithun Chakraborty has starred in more than 350 films in a career spanning decades. He was conferred with a Padma Bhushan in January this year. The actor was last seen in the Bengali film 'Kabuliwala' which released in December 2023.
