A postgraduate student at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has provided a detailed look into the institution, calling it a "tech nerd’s paradise" in a viral social media post. Vijendra Kumar Vaishya, who recently began his master’s programme in computer science, shared insights from his first month at the institute, praising both its academic environment and campus life.
Vaishya’s posts highlighted various aspects of his experience, describing the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department as a dynamic place where students constantly engage in discussions and work. "The CSE department is always buzzing with students on their laptops, enjoying coffee, and hanging out in cozy spots," he stated. He lauded the department's supportive culture, noting that both the lab staff and senior students were approachable and helpful. “The lab crew is fantastic—any question, just ask. Seniors are always around to help,” he added.
Reflecting on hostel life, Vaishya was surprised by the relaxed rules, including no strict restrictions on access to girls' hostels. He also appreciated the light academic schedule, with classes only two days a week, giving students the freedom to explore other opportunities on campus. "It’s been a month at IIT Bombay. I’m living my dream college life, making friends, and enjoying every moment," he shared.

In his post, Vaishya elaborated on how he often spends late nights in the department, as the labs remain open 24/7, providing an environment for uninterrupted work. He also mentioned the availability of 24/7 food services on campus, ensuring that students always have access to meals and snacks, regardless of the time. This convenience, he noted, adds to the overall quality of life on campus.
Adding a humorous touch to his experience, Vaishya remarked, “You’ll be too busy for dating. Your new ‘love’ will be labs, assignments, and events,” reflecting the demanding workload that students face at IIT Bombay.
In addition to academics, Vaishya highlighted the range of amenities available to students, including a gym, hospital, tennis courts, and swimming pool, allowing for a balanced lifestyle. He emphasised that when students aren’t focused on academics, they are likely to be found working out or enjoying recreational activities.
The candid review quickly gained attention on social media and triggered a flurry of reactions from X users.
"That's really a dream life for many," a user wrote. Another user commented, "Live the dream. You will miss it once you graduate. It's the best possible place to be in."
"College years are the best years. That time is irreplaceable," a third user remarked.
