Amid reports that actor Salman Khan is filing a defamation suit against comedian Kunar Kamra for abusing him during one of his stand-up shows, Kamra has declared that he would not apologise for his jokes. He also referred to the court case in which Khan was accused of poaching two black bucks in 1998 and the hit-and-run case of 2002 in which he was accused of ramming his car into a pavement in Bandra, killing one person and injuring four others.

"I am not a flying bird or a stationary footpath and I don’t apologies for jokes anymore…" the comedian wrote on X, responding to a tweet on the incident by actor KRK.

Salman Khan, however, has not reacted to the incident yet.

Blackbuck poaching case of 1998

It all started during the shooting of the 1998 film Hum Saath Saath Hain in Rajasthan. It is alleged that it was at this time that actors Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, and Neelam went on a shooting expedition in Salman Khan's Gypsy. He is believed to have killed two deer after he spotted a herd of them in Jodhpur's Kankani village.

According to the Bishnois, they had chased Khan with their bike but he got away. They also argued that deer carcass was found at the spot after the actors left. Following protests by the local Bishnoi community, a case was filed against all the actors involved in the incident.

On October 12, 1998, Salman was arrested in connection with the poaching of endangered animals. He was, however, granted bail later.

Hit-and-run case of 2002

Salman Khan was accused of ramming his car into a pavement in Bandra in Mumbai on September 28, 2002 -- killing one person and injuring four others and then running away from the scene of the crime.

In 2015, the Bombay High Court acquitted him of all charges. It said that considering various shortcomings of the prosecution, the omissions and contradictions in evidence of injured witnesses which go to root of matter, doubt arises over his involvement. The court added that Khan cannot be convicted on the basis of the given evidence.
