Musk has been a vocal proponent of Tesla’s expansion in India and is actively engaged in discussions about bringing Tesla’s manufacturing operations to the Indian market.
Notably, US President Donald Trump recently appointed Musk as the head of the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), underscoring his increasing influence in policy and governance discussions in the United States.
This meeting with PM Modi came after the Indian Prime Minister held earlier engagements, starting with a meeting with US National Security Advisor Michael Waltz. The discussion, attended by Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, focused on Indo-US strategic cooperation.
Later, PM Modi met with Tulsi Gabbard, the newly appointed US Director of National Intelligence. The meeting was significant as Gabbard had been sworn in as the 8th Director of National Intelligence just hours earlier in the presence of President Trump.
PM Modi arrived in Washington DC early Thursday morning, marking his first official visit to the United States since Trump’s re-election.
