IAS officer Rinku Dugga has been compulsorily retired by the government. Dugga is the 1994-batch IAS officer who, along with her husband Sanjeev Khirwar, had ordered the emptying of Delhi's Thyagaraj Stadium last year so they could walk their dog.
According to the Indian Express, the decision to compulsorily retire Rinku Dugga, 54, was taken based on her career record.
A government official confirmed the development on Tuesday, saying: “Yes, orders have been issued compulsorily retiring Dugga based on her track record.” The official said that the government holds the right to retire any government servant “if it is of the opinion that it is in the public interest to do so”.
Dugga had been transferred out of Delhi last year after the Indian Express published a report on how the IAS officer had been ordering athletes at the government-run Thyagaraj Stadium to wrap up training earlier than usual and empty the stadium so she and her husband, also an IAS officer, could walk their dog.
Khirwar, a 1994-batch officer who was posted as Delhi’s Principal Secretary (Revenue), was transferred to Ladakh following the row caused by the report. Dugga was transferred to Arunachal Pradesh and has now been compulsorily retired under Fundamental Rules (FR) 56(j), Rule 48 of Central Civil Services (CCS) Pension Rules, 1972.
