A Bengaluru-based woman, who was looking for a house in Gurgaon, faced an unusual experience after a prospective renter rejected her because she was in a steady relationship with her boyfriend. The renter said she preferred hookups and was looking for a housemate who shared her views.
The exchange happened through a Facebook group called Flat and Flatmates (Gurgaon) and screenshots of it went viral after Shivangi Shah shared it on X. "House hunting in Gurgaon is wild," Shah wrote.
The screengrab of the conversation shows the renter asking Shah if she had “a date.” Thinking the question referred to her moving date, she said she could shift either in the last week of December or the first week of January.
The renter explained she was asking if Shah had a boyfriend. "Yes, I do. He's actually based out of Gurgaon," Shah replied. She was then asked if her relationship was “serious.” When the Shah said it was, the renter stated she preferred casual relationships and wanted a flatmate who shared that preference.

The unusual exchange left social media users feeling both confused and amused.
"I don’t understand- she wants to hookup with you or your boyfriend," commented Shreya (@shreyab4mondal). "Good thing she didn't propose orgies," added Bhavya Ranpara (@RanparaBhavya).
In another story on rent, boyfriend, and Gurgaon, last year, an Instagram influencer from the city, Shakul Gupta, offered himself as a boyfriend on rent to anyone looking for a partner on Valentine’s Day. In a lengthy Instagram post, the 32-year-old said that the main aim of his dating service isn’t associated with physical intimacy or earning revenue. Instead, it is to heal lonely hearts during the cupid season.
