If you thought a matrimonial website would have no use besides helping one meet potential partners, think again. A post going viral on LinkedIn reveals how one woman has been using Jeevansathi.com to aid in her job search.

Ashveen Bansal, a software engineer at Google, revealed that a friend of his has been using Jeevansathi.com to look up the salary range for her role at different companies before applying to them.

“So a friend told me she is using #jeevansathi.com to see compensation of different companies through people's profiles and then applying there,” Bansal revealed in a LinkedIn post currently going viral online. In the comments section, the Google employee further revealed that his friend looks for people who started working the same year as she did and then checks their current CTC to get an idea of salary range and market trends.

His post has racked up over 27,000 ‘likes’ on LinkedIn along with hundreds of amused comments. Many praised the unnamed woman for her resourcefulness.

“This could be a next potential product idea for all the matrimonial services to include in premium services,” wrote one person in the comments section. “Men use LinkedIn for dating and women use dating/matchmaking websites for job search,” another quipped.

The role of matrimonial websites in job search also went viral last year when a woman revealed how she tried to hire a man she met on Jeevansathi.com. Udita Pal, co-founder of Bengaluru-based startup Salt, said that she asked her Jeevansathi match for his resume and sent him an interview link.
