A foreigner living in Meghalaya has drawn widespread attention after he confronted a man for throwing plastic bottles in a public place. The video of the incident went viral on social media, sparking a discussion on civic sense and citizens’ responsibility.

The clip, shared on Instagram, showed the foreigner calling out a tourist who was casually throwing plastic bottles along the roadside near Mawlynnong, known as the cleanest village in Asia.

The foreigner also revealed that he lived in Meghalaya and was not just a visitor. He asked the man to pick up the bottles he had thrown and reminded him that such careless behaviour affected not only nature but also local communities that depended on tourism for their livelihoods.

The video quickly sparked a flood of reactions on social media. Netizens praised the foreigner for taking a stand and expressed frustration over the lack of civic sense shown by some tourists and locals.

“Good job, Paduh. These tourists come and litter everywhere. No manners or civic sense at all (sic),” one user commented.

Another wrote, “It's a shame to let foreigners tell you to clean your own house. Indians need to discover civic sense yet. I appreciate you for teaching the forgotten civic sense (sic).”

“Bro, whole India is with you on this. We don't want people without civic sense anywhere in India. If they want to throw garbage, better go to their own state. Whoever throws garbage on the road needs to be told to pick it up (sic),” said another user.

One netizen said, “They come to the cleanest village in Asia to throw trash?!! There's no dustbin he says!! Is he blind or what?” Another user commented, “Rest of India should learn a lesson from Meghalaya.” One more added, “Great work, thank you great use of your platform.”

“That's a good thing u did ..Paduhaki...admired your confidence..every fellow being should be like this..Keep every place clean, not only this place (sic), ” expressed one user.
