Actor Khushi Kapoor, who made her Hindi film debut in Netflix's The Archies, shared a heartfelt memory of her mother, the legendary actress Sridevi, on Saturday morning. She took to her Instagram stories to share an old picture of her posing with sister Janhvi Kapoor and her mom. It was a befitting tribute to the late Sridevi whose sixth death anniversary was observed on Saturday.

Sridevi had a huge fan following and was regarded as the first female superstar of Indian cinema. Said a regular movie buff : "She was a versatile actress and could fit into any role. Her charm left the audience spellbound."

Sri as she was fondly called, was just four when she made her acting debut in Tamil film Kandhan Karunai in 1963. Later, in 1975, she came into the limelight for her role as a child artist in the romantic drama Julie. Though Kandhan Karunai was quite successful, some say she got a break after being paired opposite actor Jitendra in the hit Hindi film Himmatwala in 1983. It was the film where she got the opportunity to showcase herself not just as an actor, but also a dancer. The song 'Nainon Mein Sapna' became a superhit, and also established her as one of the best dancers in Indian cinema.

Sridevi died on February 24, 2018, at the age of 54 and breathed her last in Dubai. She had worked in around 300 films; and was popular as a multilingual actor in Indian cinema -- one who had done films in several languages such as Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.

In both Tamil and Hindi cinema, Sridevi played the female lead opposite the biggest film stars of the day, from superstar contemporaries Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan in Tamil films to Anil Kapoor (Lamhe, Mr India), Amitabh Bachchan (Khuda Gawah), Sunny Deol (Chaalbaaz) and Rishi Kapoor (Chandni) in the Hindi film industry.

She is remembered for films like Sadma, Mr India, Chaalbaaz, Chandni, and Nagina, among various other films in different Indian languages. Sridevi took a 15-year sabbatical from the movies after the birth of the first daughter in 1997, Jahnvi. She made her comeback in Bollywood in 2012 with English Vinglish and later was last seen in Mom in 2017. She again won millions of hearts worldwide with these two last films. The actress was honoured with many awards, and in 2013, she was also conferred with Padma Shri.
