Legion, a group of hackers who say they are targeting the corrupt, on Saturday claimed responsibility for hacking into senior journalist Barkha Dutt’s Twitter account. Soon after, Legion also claimed to have hacked into another senior journalist Ravish Kumar’s Twitter account. The hacking nuisance began when the group took over Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and absconding liquor baron Vijay Mallya's Twitter accounts.

"We use Twitter as a means to reach the public. We don't just hack Twitter accounts, go through the data and find out," read one of the tweets posted using Kumar's account. The tweets bore a signature — "Legion".

"Coming up next - @LalitKModi leaks. Stay tuned," they posted in a subsequent tweet. The tweets have since been deleted and Kumar’s account has been restored.

@nayisadak, a Twitter account handled by Kumar on behalf of the website, posted this soon after the hack.

According to the hacker group, Legion has launched a fight against the ‘corrupt’. In a series of tweets made through hacked accounts, the group also has said it will release a couple of documents pertaining to the Congress party's internal emails on the New Year.

While the origin of Legion remains unknown, the tweets it has made through a series of hacked accounts have been derogatory and notorious in nature.

A tweet pinned on Dutt’s account by Legion read: “Remember kids, e-mail us at legion_group@sigaint.org if you have useful information or sp00lz”. The tweet has since been removed and Dutt's account has been restored.

From this email address it is understood that the group is using sigaint.org as a tool.

Sigaint.org, hosted by onion.to, is known for a service that allows users to send and receive emails without revealing their identity or location. Sigaint claims that emails created by the network can only be accessed by using TOR browser. TOR browser is popular among individuals and businesses that want anonymity online.
