Contrary to the information given to media houses by a firm managing the corporate affairs of Sahara group, senior advocate Ram Jethmalani today did not hold press briefing at his residence on the developments in the contempt case involving jailed Subrata Roy.
"Senior advocate Ram Jethmalani will conduct a press conference at 6.30 pm at his 2 - Akbar Road residence here," one of the executives of the firm, which manages the corporate affairs of the group, told mediapersons outside one of the exit gates in the Supreme Court.
Most of the journalists, including photo and video journalists, who were waiting to capture the images of Roy today evening, rushed to the residence of Jethmalani. On inquiry, the journalists were told by the staff of the noted lawyer that neither he has been informed by his client nor he plans to talk to the media about the case.
During the day, Roy was brought to the apex court premises by Uttar Pradesh police amid chaos and commotion as one of the lawyers, claiming to be an investor, blackened his face bythrowing ink. Later, Roy, even after rendering unconditional apology, could not get any relief and was sent to custody by a bench headed by Justice K S Radhakrishnan.
