Salman Khan gets five-year jail term in 1998 blackbuck poaching case

According to reports, while delivering the verdict, the judge is believed to have referred to Khan as a “habitual offender”

In a major blow to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, a Jodhpur court found the actor guilty under section 9/51 of the Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, on Thursday, for killing two blackbucks almost two decades ago.

Reports suggest that the actor has been handed a 5-year jail term for killing the endangered antelopes on the night of October 1-2, 1998. As the jail term is above 3 years, he will be arrested and lodged in Jodhpur Central  Jail.

The "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" actor was accompanied by co-stars Tabu, Sonali Bendre, Neelam and Saif Ali Khan, on an alleged hunting trip, who were acquitted in the case. The incident occurred in Bhagoda ki Dhani in Mathania village near Jodhpur.
