Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to unveil a multi-storey tower at the Gujarat International Finance Tec (GIFT) City near here during the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2017 in January, officials said.

The decision to invite the Prime Minister was taken at a meeting of Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Chairman and Managing Director of Hiranandani Group of Companies, Niranjan Hiranandani in Gandhinagar yesterday.

The 16-storey tower is being constructed by the Hiranandani Group. During the meeting, Hiranandani apprised Rupani about the construction status of the building, sources in the Chief Minister's Office said.

The tower will be among the first to be unveiled at the GIFT City in Gandhinagar, which will house the Bombay Stock Exchange IFSC (International Financial Services Centre) Limited and International Clearing Corporation IFSC Ltd, along with IFSC share brokers and global financial intermediaries.

The building, named 'The Signature', has four lakh square feet of built up area and is being constructed at a cost of around Rs 150 crore.

The GIFT City, a pet project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to create an International Financial Centre as an alternate for Indian industries to similar centres already existing in London, Dubai, Singapore and Hong Kong.

The Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2017 will be held between January 11 and 13. Prime Minister Modi is likely to be in Gujarat during those three days.
