Ahead of his rath yatra, senior BJP leader L K Advani today hit out at the UPA for "lack" of leadership, which, he said, was the main reason for the "people's anger" against the government.

Advani said he would highlight the issue of corruption and stashing away of blackmoney in tax havens abroad during his 38-day 'Jan Chetana Yatra' set to be launched tomorrow from Sitab Diara in Bihar, the birthplace of Jai Prakash
Narain.

The 84-year-old leader said his yatra would focus on good and clean governance, which has been "lacking of-late and leading to anger amongst the people against the elected government".

"There has been an ethical decline in UPA's conduct of government affairs and of politics and this has been the principle reason for the anger of people against the government and their skepticism of parliamentary democracy
itself," Advani said.

He complimented the civil society for its role in creating awareness about corruption and black money. However, he sought to underscore the primacy of political parties in a parliamentary democracy. "The health of a
democracy very much depends on political parties," he said.

To a question on BJP's prime ministerial candidate, Advani said the party has no dearth of leaders and a decision on the leadership issue would be taken after elections.

Advani also dismissed reports that he had spoken with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the past couple of days to discuss his yatra's route in the state.
