Ashneer Grover says Albinder Dhindsa is ‘best guy’ to lead Eternal after Deepinder Goyal’s exit

Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal has stepped down as the group chief executive officer of Eternal Ltd, handing over leadership to Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa. The announcement was made through a detailed letter addressed to shareholders, which Goyal also shared publicly on Instagram.

In the note, Goyal explained that his decision was driven by a growing desire to pursue new ideas that carry much higher levels of risk, ideas he believes are not suitable for a listed company like Eternal.

“Of late, I have found myself drawn to a set of new ideas that involve significantly higher-risk exploration and experimentation. These are the kinds of ideas that are better pursued outside a public company like Eternal,” Deepinder Goyal wrote.

Goyal also stressed the importance of discipline and clarity as Eternal enters its next phase of growth. “Eternal deserves to remain focused, and disciplined, while exploring new areas of growth that are relevant to its current line of business,” he said.

The appointment of Albinder Dhindsa as group CEO was widely seen as a natural choice. Dhindsa has played a key role in building Blinkit into one of India’s leading quick-commerce platforms. The announcement triggered a wave of reactions on social media.

Among the most notable reactions was a public message from former ex- BharatPe MD and co-founder Ashneer Grover, who commented under Goyal’s Instagram post. His comment showed support for the leadership change and backed Albinder Dhindsa as the new leader. Grover wrote, “Congrats @albidhindsa - bhai - you are the best guy to lead Eternal. Keep rocking !”
