Tech billionaire Elon Musk, joined BlackRock CEO Larry Fink on a panel at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos on Thursday, took a dig at US President Donald Trump after the launch of his 'Board of Peace' initiative.
During the interaction with BlackRock, Musk cracked a worldplay, asking whether the board’s name suggested “piece” or “peace.” "I heard about the formation of the Peace Summit and I thought is that piece or ... a little piece of Greenland a little piece of Venezuela," he said.
"All we want is peace," he added.
The remark referred to Trump’s controversial “Monroe Doctrine” and his administration's strong interest in territory and resources in the Western Hemisphere and the Arctic.
About the Board
Led by Trump, the board was initially planned as a small group of world leaders to focus on the Gaza ceasefire. However, over time, the administration has expanded its ambitions, inviting several countries to mediate conflicts in the future.
Musk’s remark went viral on social media
Elon Musk’s comment quickly went viral on social media, drawing widespread discussion and mixed reactions.
One X user said, “Elon Musk is the only person who can roast President Trump and validate his strategy in the same sentence! Whether it’s Peace for the world or a Piece of Greenland for US security, the outcome is the same: a stronger America. The Trump-Musk dynamic is exactly what global politics needed: results mixed with a sense of humour.”
Another user commented, praising Musk’s sense of humour, “Lol, that’s just typical Elon. He’s got a fantastic sense of humour.”
A third X user wrote, “Nah, it’s the BoD: Board of Dictators.”
A fourth user wrote, “One second he’s Trump’s best friend, the next he’s making fun of him, then he’s defending him and then mocking him. He really has no clue what to do with his life lol.”

He can be really funny every now and then and he is undoubtedly a very smart man. However, he should still be very self-critical about his own moral agenda. — Jürgen Arndt (@JrgenArndt3) January 22, 2026
Speaking at the panel, Musk said robots will reshape society and help humans by reducing the need for human labour. "There will be such an abundance of goods and services because, he said, adding that there'll be more robots than people."
