Vijay Deverakonda’s much-awaited VD 14 has finally received its official title — Rana Baali — with the makers unveiling the film’s first glimpse on the occasion of Republic Day. Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, the pan-India period drama stars Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles and is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on September 11, 2026.
Mounted on a grand scale, Rana Baali is set in 19th-century India and draws inspiration from real historical events that unfolded between 1854 and 1878. The intense glimpse introduces viewers to a “cursed land” ravaged by colonial exploitation, vividly portraying the devastating impact of British policies during that era. The narrative highlights drought-stricken regions shaped by oppressive administrators such as Sir Richard Temple and Sir Theodore Hector, offering a grim look at the human cost of imperial rule.
Vijay Deverakonda appears in a fierce new avatar as Rana Baali, delivering a commanding screen presence that anchors the film’s emotional and political core. Rashmika Mandanna essays the role of Jayamma, while Arnold Vosloo plays the antagonist Sir Theodore Hector, adding weight and menace to the conflict.
The film marks the third collaboration between Vijay Deverakonda and Mythri Movie Makers, following Dear Comrade and Khushi, and reunites the actor with Rahul Sankrityan after their successful outing Taxiwaala. Rana Baali also brings Vijay and Rashmika together once again after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade, reviving their popular on-screen pairing.
Produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar under the Mythri Movie Makers banner, the film is presented by T-Series, with music composed by the acclaimed duo Ajay–Atul, promising a powerful blend of scale, emotion and historical gravitas.
