In one of the most hilarious robbery incidents seen in recent times, a Chinese burglar fell asleep mid-robbery after smoking a cigar and was later arrested after the homeowners were woken up by his loud snoring, a South China Morning Post report said.

The incident took place in the Yunnan province in southwest China when the burglar entered a house, but got frightened after hearing people talk inside the residence. As a result, he decided to wait in a different room until the homeowners fell asleep. But as he waited for the family members to go to bed, he smoked a cigar and fell asleep himself.

The homeowner eventually went to bed with her younger child, but was woken up by loud snoring sounds. She opted to ignore the sounds initially but 40 minutes later when she woke up to wash her child's milk bottle, she realised that the noise had become louder.

The woman quickly realised that the sound was coming from one of the rooms in the house and decided to have a closer look. It is then that she found the burglar sleeping on the floor in another room.

She immediately alerted the other family members in the house and informed the police, following which he was arrested. Police officials said that the man was a repeat offender and was arrested for a theft in 2022, as well. Police authorities added that the man was released in September, but seemed to have not changed his nature and resumed his "old profession".
