Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni enjoys a global popularity and has a massive fan base. Regarded as “Captain Cool”, Dhoni has inspired an entire generation of people with his dedication towards cricket. So, when a man shared a post on meeting the legendary cricketer by chance on a flight, it obviously went viral online.
Chandan Sinha took to Instagram to share a few selfies with Dhoni and talked about his experience of meeting him after a “last minute seat change” on a flight from Mumbai to Ranchi. Sinha mentioned that Dhoni’s house was less than a kilometre away from his but he never bumped into him. He also called him the pride of their town.
“His house was less than a km where I lived for 20 years. Pride of our town. A huge fan of his game, yet never bumped into him. But God had it all planned. Who knew that the last-minute seat change from the last to second row would turn out to be the best two and half hours of my fan life,” Sinha wrote.
Sinha then went on to write about his incredible fan moment and how he was “shell-shocked” for a moment. “A surreal encounter with Mahi, was an absolute dream come true. “Shell-shocked, took me a moment to realise what was happening. His humility made the moment even more incredible. On hearing that we are from the same town he let go his usual habit of taking a boosting nap during his flights.”
Dhoni talked about his favourite cuisines, his vacation plans, his love for Ranchi and automobiles. The cricketer even told Sinha that whenever he is in town, he drops his daughter Ziva to school. “We had two hours of fascinating conversation. From his entrepreneurial ideas to life lessons his wisdom knows no bounds,” the man continued.
Sinha also shared a video of Dhoni boarding the flight from his account on Instagram.
Social media users were absolutely delighted for Sinha and flooded the comments section with their thoughts.
“Bro got a profile picture for life,” a user wrote. Another user commented, “What a moment. Once in a lifetime and best in a lifetime, 2 and a half hours with legend himself sitting next to you.”
“Earlier this year in July, I got lucky on Ranchi Mumbai flight as I saw Mahi on the flight. I wasn’t as lucky as @chandan20007 to sit next to him and have a conversation or click a pic but I had an opportunity to see captain cool a few feet away from me. As usual, he was seated in very first row. As I am a frequent flyer on Mumbai Ranchi route, since this instance I have started opting for front seats thinking I may just get lucky someday,” a third user exclaimed.
“If being lucky had a face,” a fourth user remarked.
Another person wrote, “Dreams come true!! Proved.”
