A Bengaluru resident took to social media to express frustration over the city’s worsening infrastructure, setting off a wider debate on traffic chaos and civic failures. The post was shared on Reddit with the caption, "Bengaluru is my city, I love it. But I just can't take it anymore", went viral and resonated with many netizens who shared similar concerns.

In the post, the resident, who said they have lived in Bengaluru all their life, expressed strong affection for the city but admitted that daily life has become increasingly unbearable.

The redditor wrote, "Dear Bengaluru government, please do not make me hate this city. I've lived here all my life and loved every bit of it. I have not lived in any other city, and I have no problem with that. Bangalore is my city. But the past few years, everything has gotten worse. The traffic, the air, the water, and most importantly, the roads,"

Among the many issues listed, traffic emerged as the residents’ biggest concern. The user drew attention to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) stretch between Silk Board and Mahadevpura, which is one of the busiest corridors in the city, home to several IT parks and offices.

The user went on to explain, "I just can't anymore. The traffic has gotten so terrible. I tried everything: office cab, switching 3 metros, bus, personal car, and personal bike. Everything has its pros and cons, but overall, every mode of transport suffers the same issue."

The post further mentioned, "I agree that we citizens need to play our part, but please, the government needs to intervene more. Do more. Be more. We pay 30 per cent of our money to the government for a reason."

As the post gained popularity, several social media users echoed the resident’s concerns. One user commented, "The only thing that will save this city is mass protests. None of these politicians are working for us. Every MLA, MP, contractor, sarkari babu is just filling his pockets." Another added, "I'd prefer if we all got together and staged a massive protest for days on end. Instead of ranting here."

One user suggested, "Our city badly needs a new extension town like Navi Mumbai, Gurgaon or Noida. No city (not getting into the unplanned growth of Bangalore) is capable of handling a continuous increase in population for so many decades."

Some users noted that ongoing metro construction along the ORR has reduced road space, making smooth traffic flow difficult. The comment read, "Until the metro starts, it will be the same problem, and after the metro starts, you will see more crowds in the metro also." Another said, "With metro work going on in ORR, expecting lane discipline in that narrow stretch called the road is too much. We aren't living in a utopian city."

Responding to this, the original poster acknowledged the challenge but said hope was necessary. The resident replied, "Yeah, agreed, but one can still hope. That’s literally the only way it can get better in the short term. I really feel extreme police patrolling might help."

Beyond traffic and roads, users also raised concerns about frequent power outages. The user wrote, "Don't forget power cuts. I'm currently waiting for 3+ hours in the middle of a workday for the power to come back. They do maintenance work in the middle of the day randomly. And despite all this maintenance, there's a 10-30-minute power cut every day at least once (sic)."
