Animesh Pradhan, a 22-year-old from Odisha, cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam in his first attempt, securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 2, in the results announced on Tuesday.
A graduate from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela, Pradhan is from Angul district in Odisha and managed to secure the second rank in the examination, clearing arguably the toughest exam in the country in his first attempt.
Aditya Srivastava, a graduate from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, secured top rank. A total of 347 candidates belonging to the general category cleared the exam while 303 candidates belonging to other backward classes (OBC) category passed the exam.
UPSC Civil Services exam 2023 final results declared.A total of 1,016 candidates cleared the examination.

The third rank was secured by Ananya Reddy, who said that she studied 12-14 hours a day and wanted to serve the society since childhood.
The Civil Service Exam is conducted in three stages- preliminary, main and interview-by the UPSC to chose officers for Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), among others.
